Sarah and a Camera

Sarah likes to take pictures. And occasionally, even frequently, I'm impressed with what she sees through the lens. She provides a different perspective and I appreciate the opportunity to see life through her eyes. They may not all be in focus, but more often than not, the idea is clear. Some of her portfolio is seen here:

daffodils and forsythia

. . . are so pretty.

13.1

I finished a half marathon yesterday, something I've been wanting to do for quite a while. My goals were 1) to finish it, and 2) if I felt good enough, to finish in under 2:00. I'm happy to say that I did what I hoped to do and finished the race in 1:59:14. Barely under, but I did it. Out of 1266 women who ran the race, I finished 319th. I'm hobbling around today, with tight and sore legs, looking kind of goofy, but that's fine with me.

Hello Spring

Dear Spring,

We're so happy to see you and so glad that you've decided to join us! Feel free to stay for as long as you like.

From two of your most adoring fans,
Sarah and Eric

testing, testing, 1, 2, 3

Just so you know, I changed the settings on the blog, so that anyone can post (I think). Feel free to leave a comment whenever the mood strikes. No pressure, though - if you wish to keep your comments to yourself, that's fine by me too! :)

For the Birds

After mentioning the idea of a bird feeder to Sarah and getting her most enthusiastic feedback, we've set up a bird feeding station in the front yard. We've seen black-capped chickadees, a couple of woodpeckers, house finches, some tufted titmice(?), lots of cardinals, sparrows, and numerous others I have yet to identify. We have starlings (I think) and mourning doves on the ground as well. After watching a squirrel use the baffle as a spring board, Brian moved it up, which seems to have kept them on the ground rather than on the feeders. We're having a great time and it looks like the birds are pretty happy too!

Fancy Feet

The kids had a friend over the other day and she requested that we paint our nails. Eric really wanted to be included, and after three years of saying no, I finally caved. I only did his toes, and he picked blue. That's my boy!!

Long Run

I ran 11.9 miles today, in preparation for the half-marathon that I'll run in a week and a half. AND I'm still awake and walking without pain!! I don't know about you, but I'm impressed!

Favorite Things to Do

Somehow my friend Teresa came up in a discussion today. Sarah said, "Ms. Teresa runs a lot. She runs all day long. She must love to run."

I replied, "Yes, she loves to run. And yes, she runs a lot."

Sarah asked, "Does she love it more than you? Because she does it more than you."

"It's one of my favorite things to do. But I like to do other things too."

Sarah's next question - "Is building with Legos one of your favorite things to do?"

I said, "Yes. I like building Legos with you very much."

Sarah asked, "Do you like to build them with anyone else?"

"Yes," I said, "I like to build with Eric, too."

"Me too," she said.
